Amendments to the Constitution of Pakistan
1st Amendment (1974)
- Redefined Boundaries Of Pakistan
2nd Amendment (1974)
- Declared Ahmadis As Non-Muslims
3rd Amendment (1975)
- Extended the Period of Preventive Detention
- Preventive Detention allows detaining a person at an unknown place for acts against the integrity of the State
4th Amendment (1975)
- Provided Additional Seats for Minorities
5th Amendment (1976)
- Widened the Scope of Restrictions on High Courts
6th Amendment (1976)
- Mandated Retirement Age for Judges of High Courts (62 years) and Supreme Court (65 years)
7th Amendment (1977)
- Empowered the Prime Minister to Seek Vote of Confidence at any time from the people of Pakistan
8th Amendment (1985)
- Introduced a Semi-Presidential System of Government alongside Parliamentary System
- Increased Powers of the President of Pakistan
9th Amendment (1985)
- Aimed to make Shariah Law as the Law of the Land

- Fixed the Interval between Sessions of the National Assembly to Not Exceed 130 days
11th Amendment (1989)

- Curtailed the Powers of the President to Dissolve the National Assembly and Dismiss the Prime Minister

- Enabled the Dismissal of Members of Parliament for found defects
15th Amendment (1998)
- Bill to impose Shariah Law was never passed
16th Amendment (1999)
- Increased Quota System Term from 20 to 40 years
17th Amendment (2003)
- Increased President’s Powers
18th Amendment (2010)
- Changed the Name of NWFP (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)
- Introduced Article 6 on High Treason
- Removed the Powers of the President to Dissolve the Assembly Unilaterally
19th Amendment (2010)
- Formed Islamabad High Court
- Deals with Appointment of Judges of the Supreme Court
20th Amendment (2012)
- Aimed for Free and Fair Elections
- Changed Chief Election Commissioner to Election Commission of Pakistan
21st Amendment (2015)
- Established Military Courts after APS Massacre
22nd Amendment (2016)
- Changed Eligibility Criteria for Chief Election Commissioner
- Bureaucrats and Technocrats became members of Election Commission of Pakistan
23rd Amendment (April 2017)
- Re-established Military Courts for two years till 6th January 2019
24th Amendment (November 2017)
- Allowed the conduct of delimitation of constituencies based on provisional census results
